Ryman League North: Brentwood Town 3 Aveley 1

Brentwood Town break Aveley’s unbeaten run and continue their great league form as they won 3-1 at The Brentwood Arena.

Courtney White grabbed a brace to settle the three points with two early goals in eight minutes for White and Sherwin Stanley.

Former blues player Petrit Elbi brought Aveley back into the first half but White secured the points with minutes to play to move Brentwood up to third.

Brentwood flew out the blocks two minutes in after a long ball up was brought down by Alex Akofi for Courtney White to volley into the bottom corner.

Jack Gardner almost scored a second directly from the corner. Brentwood doubled their lead within eight minutes as Akofi’s low cross to Sherwin Stanley was smashed into the roof of the net.

Aveley got a foot hold in the game 18 minutes in and Lee Weemes strike was well saved by Ollie Bowles.

The away side brought themselves back into the game as Ryan O’Rawe great block fell to Petrit Elbi who slotted it into the bottom corner past Bowles.

Weemes nearly equalised as a free-kick was drifted in but he headed onto the roof of the net.

Billy Coyne for the visitors almost scored three minutes into the second half from his corner but was hooked off the line by Stanley.

Daryl Robson lifted the back into the box which was flicked on by Danny Dafter for Stanley who stayed onside but blazed his shot over.

Aveley Captain Junior Baker nearly levelled the away side as his bullet header was parried away by Bowles.

Substitute Sam Bantick almost extended their lead as a long free kick was headed towards Dafter and Bantick header was plucked away from his goal to deny Brentwood.

Teddy Nesbitt struck an unbelievable strike from 25 yards plus which had Bowles worried as he pushed it away for a corner.

Brentwood secured the three pointed with three minutes left as Bantick’s pace down the left beat his man and cut it across goal for White to grab his brace.
