UEL continue unbeaten run

University of East London 1st still remain unbeaten this season as they brushed aside Reading University with an 8-3 victory at Beckton District Park.

Top goal scorer Johan Caney-Bryan grabbed four goals to take his total to 19 goals in just nine games.

Dillan Stephenson got superb goals the first a great well-worked team goal and the second a lovely individual goal.

UEL took the lead just two minutes into the game as Wright slotted in Neilson down the right hand side, his shot was saved by the Reading keeper but Caney-Bryan tapped the rebound into an empty net.

The hosts doubled their lead ten minutes later as defender Shafik Walusumbi bursting run set up the move as Neilson slipped in Stephenson and slotted his shot into the bottom corner.

Reading reacted a few minutes later as the forward was put through on goal and despite UEL keeper Richie Robbins getting something on the shot, it crept into the corner.

Within three minutes the visitors were level as a cross was spilled by Robbins and the Reading striker squared the ball across the six yard box to be fired in to equalise.

Straight from the restart Caney-Bryan was given space down the left and restored UEL’s lead as he lifted the ball over the keeper and into the top corner.

Just before the break UEL extended their lead as Caney-Bryan was the creator this time as he clipped a ball onto the head of Captain Neilson, to lead 4-2 at half-time.

UEL started the second half more dominate and got their reward on the hour mark as Stephenson burst down the right, shrugged off two defenders and struck into the bottom corner for UEL’s fifth.

The East London side went and got another as Neilson broke the offside trap, went round the keeper and his shot came back off the post to goal poacher Caney-Bryan to slam it home for his hat-trick.

The home side continued to be clinical as a corner from Siao Levi-Blackwood was met by Caney-Brown with a superb header into the top corner for his fourth.

Reading managed a consolation three minutes later as a whipped in ball was headed into the bottom corner by the Reading striker.

UEL completed the performance with an eighth two minutes from time to cap off the goal fest, as Neilson got his fifth assist with a low cross for Stefan Wright to get on the end of.
